It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done one of these…what’s been up?
So, this is a tough one for me to write, but necessary as the blog will be suffering as a result of my current circumstances. This week my Husband and I separated. I’ve been behind with my reading anyway as a result of working on my writing and book but this emotional turmoil and the physical toll it will be causing with having to move house at some point and settle into a new way of life is going to have a huge impact on my blogging. I’m not reading at all right now, I just don’t have the mental capacity for it. So expect to see less from me over the coming weeks/months as I push out my own book and try to come to terms with my personal life changes. I will be around on social media and when I’m feeling up to it I will post things here, but there will be a lot less.
Where I’ve committed to tours I will switch to content posts to honour them as much as possible, I’m doing my best to keep on top of those right now, but my head isn’t really in the game so apologies if I’m a bit last minute with getting in touch.
Anybody whose books I have I can only apologise to you for the delay. Needless to say I’m not taking any more on and I will be doing my best with the pile of books I have but I don’t hold out much hope for the next few months.
I’ve been so busy this week finishing things off and getting my emotions on top of the fact that I bought my book cover and set the publication date for my first book…yep no more talking randomly this shit is going down! August 17 is the date! More information to follow.
I’ve been helping my author friend Nikki Rose with a blog tour for her debut release Crossing the Line in July…can I just say respect to people like Jenny who organise blog tours for a living because this is stressful and no I’m not starting this as a business it’s a favour for a friend only!! Anyway, I have five slots left near the end of this tour so if you would like to take part please let me know!
Finally, next week I have a couple of things going on but otherwise, it will be super quiet around here while I head to London and live the high life with the rather awesome James Cudney for three days! I may be just a bit excited about this. We’ve been planning this trip for months and now it is here I can barely contain myself. He really has no idea what he’s let himself in for! Check out my review of his latest book below…it’s super good!
So a good week for the most part this week. I’ve been given the OK to go back to work, my GP agrees that I am stable enough now to take the leap so I will be going back on Wednesday, can’t wait, it’s only ten hours a week but it makes a difference seeing a few other people.
I have also torn my rotator cuff ligament in my shoulder though so I need to be careful with that..easily done as it hurts like you wouldn’t believe! Ibuprofen which is the best painkiller for this type of injury interacts badly with Lithium as well so I don’t really have any good options for pain meds. Doh!
I’ve had two books to beta read this week so I’ve paused the editorial work on book two, it is almost finished though so I will be sending back out to a few betas for another check through in a couple of weeks is my guess.
You may have noticed that I changed the banners on the blog. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. I wanted to create a proper brand for the blog that I could match up with my author brand once I set that up. I worked with a graphic designer who helped create this so I now have a transferable logo, a fantastic banner and will be working on the author side of things once I get to setting that up. I think she’s done a fantastic job with it and I hope everyone likes it.
Finally, I did a radio appearance again on Thursday talking about access to mental health services, aside from him getting my name wrong…Doh…it all went smoothly.
I’ve been playing catch up on reviews this week after my blogiversary celebrations last week. A whole week with no reviews left me really backlogged!
My Facebook Group is slowly growing. If you are one of my readers who loves romance please come and join us!
Thanks to everyone who entered my Blogiversary Giveaway. Congratulations to the three winners:
Anne Danielle Lindsay
This month’s TBR Topple results are in and with a massive 64% of the vote the winner is Magesign by Alan Baxter, I’m super excited about this one, I really enjoyed the first book in this series when I read it many many moons ago and I’ve been caught up with other books and haven’t kept up with this series as I should have. I’ve popped Magesign onto my reading list, it’s a bit choc-full at the moment but I should get to it in the next few weeks so look out for a review early next month.
Fun fact for you Alan and I used to write for an online metal magazine along with Steffanie Holmes whose book I have reviewed this week (see reviews below)…it’s a small world eh?!
The poll will be back on May 1st with new books for you to choose from.
First I want to send a huge thanks to the five bloggers who have taken part in my blogiversary celebrations this week. I am super grateful for all the time you put into your posts. Thank you so very much each of you.
As a result of those posts this week in review is slightly different as there are no reviews and I want to ensure these guest posts are seen by everyone.
I also launched a Facebook Group this week as part of my celebrations. It’s called BLB’s Love Shack and it’s to particularly celebrate the romance side of the blog. Please do come over and join for lots of chat and fun…authors if you are interested in doing a takeover in the group be sure to let me know!
Finally today is your last chance to enter my blogiversary giveaway to win one of THREE $10/£10 Amazon Gift Cards so don’t miss out! Head to Rafflecopter to enter.
What I’ve Read
Bought / Freebies
On Monday I was joined by Danielle from Books, Vertigo and Tea who did a Tea and Genre Pairing post which I highly recommend! I love tea and am often found drowning myself in tea while I’m reading!
On Tuesday I was joined by Drew from The Tattoeed Book Geek who gave me a thorough roasting like only Drew can with his Brizzle Guest Pizzle!
One Wednesday I was joined by Kaisha from The Writing Garnet who talked passionately about bullying, a topic we all know I’ve had a good rant about recently as well.
On Thursday I was joined by my very good friend Jay from This Is My Truth Now who wrote one of the kindest posts I’ve ever seen, it really did move me deeply. Jay’s second book has just been released, he’s a wonderful writer so I advise you to head over to the post and check out not only what he wrote but the links to his books as well!
I’ve been struggling with the increase to my Lithium dosage, the side effects are treating me badly, but I am battling through and doing the best I can.
I finished the amendments to version four of book one. These were based on feedback I received from a publisher after I had submitted it, so I am hoping once it’s through editing I will resubmit. If it is rejected again I will go ahead and self-publish. I’ve just started the first round of edits on book two after getting all my beta feedback in which is invaluable, thank you to all the betas who helped me with this. If there are others out there who are writing and would like some moral support I’ve started a facebook group for this purpose so come and join us.
Finally, next week will be a bit different around here. It’s my third anniversary as a book blogger so instead of book reviews and the normal order of service I have invited five of my fellow bloggers to write guest posts and join me for the week to celebrate. I will also be giving away three £10/$10 Amazon Gift Vouchers in a Rafflecopter Giveaway to say thank you to you all for supporting me for the past three years. This isn’t the biggest or best book blog out there but those of you who support me are amazing and loyal and I count you all as friends.
