This is book two of a four book novella series. For my review of the first book follow the link below:

Book One: The Needed

Description

One soul mate is destiny. Five soul mates are cause for temporary insanity. Camila’s five infuriating mates are making her head spin. If only the craziness would stop.

After sparing Bekket’s life and finding out their fae queen has gone mad, Yehven, Kade, Zayn, Lance, and Camila are all being hunted. Can they play hide and seek long enough to gain allies?

The game of cat and mouse now begins.

Review

I was left at the end of The Needed with a need (sorry couldn’t help myself) to read more. I was totally sold on this series and just wanted more. The Wanted didn’t disappoint and Camila continued to be one kick-ass genie heroine in this instalment.

Trying to come to terms with having five mates and trying to bond with them and become comfortable with who she is and what having mates instead of her usual bonded. She embarks on a journey with her fae men to try and fix the problem with the fae Queen that Bekket brought to their doorstep in the last book.

Of course, more problems pop up with this mission, and we end with a devastating twist which has left me open mouthed and desperate for more.

Thanks to Nikki Hunter for gifting me this book so that I could read it and provide my honest review.

#BlogTour: My Sweet Friend by H.A. Leuschel @HALeuschel @shanannigans81 #Excerpt

Hello Everyone, thanks so much for joining me on day one of the My Sweet Friend blog tour. Today I’m pleased to bring you an excerpt from this book and a giveaway that you don’t want to miss. Thank you to the fabulous R&R Tours for having me take part. Do check out the other blogs on this tour.

Description

A stand-alone novella from the author of Manipulated Lives

A perfect friend … or a perfect impostor?

Alexa is an energetic and charismatic professional and the new member of a Parisian PR company where she quickly befriends her colleagues Rosie and Jack. She brings a much-needed breath of fresh air into the office and ambitiously throws herself into her new job and friendships.

But is Alexa all she claims to be?

As her life intertwines with Rosie and Jack’s, they must all decide what separates truth from fiction. Will the stories that unfold unite or divide them? Can first impressions ever be trusted?

In this original novella, H.A. Leuschel evokes the powerful hold of appearances and what a person is prepared to do to keep up the facade. If you like thought-provoking and compelling reads with intriguing characters, My Sweet Friend is for you.

My Sweet Friend - Tour Banner

Excerpt

Lying is a symptom shared by the most convincing, cunning and ruthless individuals such as psychopaths and narcissistic manipulators. They have an invincible sense of self-importance and an addictive urge to project an image of power and perfection at all cost which are fuelled by the rewarding tools of charm, diversion and … clever deception.

Like anything in life, whether the skill is morally laudable or not, skills require training, effort and hard work. The danger lies in the brain progressively adapting to the dishonest behaviour and the longer the lies, the harder it would seem to be able to change the conditioning of one’s sensitivity to telling the truth. The truth and nothing but the truth or at the very least the intention to do so most of the time therefore appears to be a basic requirement for any interpersonal trust.

In my new stand-alone novella, I explore the idea that when crossing the line between truth or lie too often, it becomes a curse the person is eventually unable to shed …

#Review: Fractured by Nikki Landis @landisnikkiauth

Description

Some wounds never heal…

If you’ve read the Fight for Light series, you know who Renee is: the cheating conniving ex-girlfriend who’s nothing but trouble. But looks can be deceiving…and sometimes fate deals a harsh and devastating blow. Forced into a life of servitude, making one desperate act of sacrifice in order to save her brother Aedan, Renee signs a contract in blood. What do you have left, when you have nothing at all? All that remains of your soul is . . . FRACTURED.

A dark fantasy novella of loss and redemption.

Review

I’m behind on the Fight for Light series but I dove into this novella anyway and having now read it I don’t think it’s at all necessary for you to have read the series to enjoy this. Renee is a woman who falls in love, deeply in love but when she has to save her brother and makes a deal with the devil everything she knows is destroyed including her own soul. This is her story and although it’s a short novella it will tug at your heart from the opening pages.

It’s clear to see how she becomes someone in the series who is a troublemaker and not particularly liked but her story is so devastating all I wanted was for someone to learn the truth and see what she was going through and help her.

Nikki Landis even in such a short format has taken me on an emotional rollercoaster, I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and it was a reminder I need to do some catching up with the Fight for Light series!

#Review: Christmas at the Falling-Down Guesthouse by Lilly Bartlett @MicheleGormanUK @NottingHillPR

Happy publication day to Lilly Bartlett, here is my review for this festive novella which will keep you warm and snuggly over Christmas.

Description

Put your feet up and tuck into the mince pies, because you won’t have to lift a finger to enjoy this Christmas at the Falling-Down Guesthouse!

Too bad the same can’t be said for single mother and extremely undomestic goddess, Lottie. When her beloved Aunt Kate ends up in hospital just before Christmas, Lottie and her seven-year-old daughter rush to rural Wales to take over her B&B. A picky hotel reviewer and his mad family are coming to stay, and without the rating only he can give them, Aunt Kate will lose her livelihood.

But Lottie can barely run her own life, let alone a hotel. How will she manage to turn the falling-down guesthouse into the luxurious wonderland the reviewer expects? And could the mysterious taxi driver, Danny, who agrees to help her, turn out to be the real gift this season?

As the snow sparkles on the trees and hot chocolate steams in your hand, snuggle into the delicious magic of Christmas at the Falling-Down Guesthouse.

Review

When Lottie receives a call to say her Aunt has been in a terrible accident and is in the hospital it feels like deja vu, she lost her parents in a similar accident and the terror she feels that it could be happening again grips her. Rushing to Wales with her daughter she finds her Aunt in a medically induced coma, now she must look after the Guesthouse which has a reviewer coming for Christmas.

Lottie is a programmer and has never looked after a Guesthouse a day in her life, more to the point she has never even seen her Aunt’s Guesthouse and setting eyes on the property does her confidence no good as it’s a falling down building that should probably be condemned rather than accept guests. In a moment of panic, she convinces the taxi driver Danny to help her.

Over the next few days, Lottie and Danny fumble their way through the task of trying to impress the reviewer and his family while they get to know each other. And well, it’s a romantic Christmas story so you know…things happen that shouldn’t, funny things happen, and then the two main characters maybe figure out a way to like each other more than they did in the beginning.

Lottie is a great character, she gets herself into some really laughable situations. Danny is a great character although I would have liked to see a bit more of him and the development of his character, although I appreciate in a novella there is only so much page space.

The guests are a nightmare and add a fabulous flavour to the whole experience causing mayhem and mischief to what Lottie is trying to create as a wonderful Christmas experience for them.

This was a quick-read, funny, and gave me the warm and fuzzy’s. Definitely, one for you to put by for your Christmas reading.

Huge thanks to Lilly Bartlett and Notting HIll Press for the eARC so that I could read and honestly review this novel.
