TAG: 20 Questions Book Tag
I picked this tag up from Danielle at Books, Vertigo and Tea, she did an open nomination and I thought it looked fun!
The 20 Questions
1. How many books are too many books in a book series?
I really enjoy trilogies but too be honest if I’m really into a series I will happily just keep reading. The only issue I have is the size of my TBR which means I end up slipping way behind so you get series like Anita Blake for example I’m at I think number 7 and the series is now at something like 27! haha
2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?
Despite the intense pain, emotional trauma, and untold sleepless nights they cause. I like them, I like knowing something big will happen in the next book to answer questions, I like knowing that the author is thinking ahead and leaving the readers wanting more. I love when a book leaves me so stunned I have to message the author and check that there will be another book…which I have done!
3. Hardback or paperback?
I prefer reading from my Kindle but I love Hardback books and often will read the ebook and then go and buy the hardback edition for my shelves…however I only have one floor to ceiling bookshelf and no more space for books so I have to be a little reserved in what I buy, especially as it is already full!
4. Favorite book?
That’s a completely impossible question to answer, I read two genres and have a list of books in each genre I love for different reasons. I guess The Copper Promise by Jen Williams and Groupie by C.M. Stunich
5. Least favorite book?
This is not a popular choice but probably Pride and Prejudice…I am not an Austen fan at all.
6. Love triangles, yes or no?
NO! I hate them with a passion, a romance should be a romance or a menage (which I love to read) but triangles drive me nuts…having just written this I realise I have a triangle in my book I’m writing so that’s really well done Claire…pats self sarcatically on back.
7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?
Fallen Angel by Kim Wilkins, I did something I never do and borrowed this from a friend. She gave it such positive reviews I felt compelled to give it a go. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into it, the setting, pace, story just didn’t give me anything I look for in a book
8. A book you’re currently reading?
I have just finished All For 1 by C.M. Stunich which I was quite disappointed to discover was a novella which ends quite suddenly. As soon as I have finished this I will be starting Ruin by Samantha Towle which is an advanced copy sent to me by Headline Eternal. They are one of my favourite publishers and I love pretty much everything they send my way.
9. Last book you recommended to someone?
Ooooh, Oh I know it was Andre by Sybil Bartel. But honestly any of Sybil’s books will blow your mind 😉
10. Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)
Cripes, that’s got to be Shakespeare, I’ve read them all and they are the 1590’s, The next oldest I can think of is The Monk by Matthew Lews which is 1796
11. Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)
The Wanted by Nikki Hunter which was published 30 March 2018
12. Favorite author?
Oh Cripes here we go again. OK…
Fantasy: Jen Williams, Anna Stephens, Ed McDonald, James Bennett, and Paul Crilley
Romance: C.M. Stunich, Kierney Scott, Sybil Bartel, Nikki Landis, Tate James
Sorry I cannot just pick one I love them all equally.
13. Buying books or borrowing books?
I’m a buyer. I would love to borrow books and support my library but I’m afraid it SUCKS, my nearest library is just a hub with a smaller shelf than I have in my house (I am not joking), there are two bigger libraries both about 3 miles in different directions from my home. But neither of them stock anything that I read except for very old books I’ve already read. I ocassionally pop in just to see if there is anything new I fancy but in four years of doing this I’ve never seen anything I want to read. 😦
14. A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?
Twilight (the whole series actually), This was a painful read, I hadn’t reached my I’m gone of YA phase when I read this yet either so I don’t know. I could write an essay on what I hated about this series but let’s just say I disagree with almost everybody’s reasons for liking it!
15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?
Bookmarks…why would you damage a book on purpose?!
16. A book you can always reread?
The Firing Line Series by Kierney Scott this series got me back into reading romance again. I had read some bad romace novels and hadn’t read any for a long time. Then I read this series and was hooked, Kierney gave me a heroine I could love, who had an attitude, and a kick ass job, and didn’t need a man…but hell she wanted him. I love to re-read this now and again especially when I’m in a slump.
17. Can you read while hearing music?
Yes, I also don’t care what music. I can’t read without it.
18. One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV’s = Point of views)
I have no preference, I think books work well both ways so I am happy to go along for the ride.
19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?
Both, yesterday I read two books because they were both quite short. Today I have a bigger book so it will probably take a couple of days for me to get through…just depends.
20. A book you’ve read because of the cover?
Groupie by C.M. Stunich, I was sent a blog tour request for this book and I took one look at the cover and signed up. I didn’t look at the genre, I didn’t read the book description. I just fell in love with that artwork and had to see what was between the pages.
I didn’t know that I was going to discover a new sub-genre: reverse harem, or that this book would tear my emotions to pieces. I didn’t know that C.M. Stunich would become an author I bought automatically as soon as she put a book on sale, just because she wrote it, and I would always prioritise her books. I didn’t know that Groupie would become one of my all-time favourite books, or that I would contact the cover designer one day and thank her for designing this cover that made me request to be on that blog tour.
So…Yep…I don’t normally read a book because of the cover, I do judge books by the cover but I won’t read one solely because of it, but in this case I did and it totally paid off!
I’m not tagging, if you would like to take part please do and let me know you have so I can come say Hi!
