The Needed - Nikki Hunter

#Review: The Needed by Nikki Hunter @NHuntAuthor

Description

When this realm was created, three races were formed. Humans, jin, and angels. That’s all that Camila knows for certain in her life.

After her time traveler’s dial gets stuck she is forced to live the same day on repeat until she is saved by four handsome strangers. They aren’t human or angel, and they definitely aren’t part of the jin.

Camila’s life is flipped upside down when she follows them into another realm. Is it possible that more creatures exist? Are they all as sexy as the four that need her now?

Recommended for ages 18 and up.

Review

Camila is a genie, a genie who has been stuck reliving the same day over and over until a group of four men unwittingly rescue her introducing her to a world she had no idea existed, because these men aren’t part of the world she knows, they are magical beings themselves and she feels more drawn to them than she normally is to the humans she is bonded to.

I loved Camila she is like a breath of fresh air, she’s got a wicked sense of humour and she owns her sexuality. Her ability to change her appearance is a great little touch and I can see a lot of fun being had with this ability as the story progresses. She stands up for herself but is still bound by the rules of her binding.

The men are an interesting bunch and I don’t think we even scratch the surface of what there is to know about them in this book. I’m looking forward to knowing more about them and what makes them tick as the series progresses.

Now, the problem with novellas which are part of a series is that they are never long enough, leaving you hanging just as things start getting good. This was the problem with The Needed. This whole book sets us up for a solid story, introducing characters, the background story, and what is going to be some hot as hell romance. Then bam! It just ends, just as you are in the flow, enjoying the story, wanting more.

So this has two effects on me. One, it drives me nuts because I want to know what the hell happens next and I’m pretty darn impatient so I run around in circles for a while wishing I could magic those pages that just aren’t going to magically appear. Two, I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens next.

Thanks to Nikki Hunter for gifting me this book so that I could read it and provide my honest review.

  1. This sounds interesting- I don’t think I’ve ever come across a story with jins and genies! Very cool 🙂

But yeah, novella’s as part of a series are my pet peeve- they’re too much of a c#cktease! 😀 And I only ever now read a novella if it’s a standalone… or wait until the whole series is out!

    1. Yeah I know all series do it to you but you get a solid story from each book in the series, with a novella series you keep getting pushed halfway down the path and then just left there!
