Pack Obsidian Gold - C.M. Stunich

#Review: Pack Obsidian Gold by C.M. Stunich @CMStunich

If you missed my review of the earlier books in this series then you can catch up by following the below links…

Book One: Pack Ebon Red
Book Two: Pack Violet Shadow

A werewolf pack is only as strong as its weakest link and ours … ours is a traitor.
The only people I can trust now are my mates, the seven alpha males I call my own.

Allies and enemies wear the same skins: witches, demons, faeries, vampires … werewolves.
It’s impossible to tell what’s hiding beneath the carefully crafted facades, the sinful slashes of smiling lips.

Magic died in our people long ago; today, it blinks sleepy eyes and wakes up.
Ancient gods raise their heads, spirits once thought to be whispers of myth, urge us to fight. They give us the power to defend ourselves from those who would take our magic as their own.

This war we’re fighting, it started with a seed of hate centuries ago.
Now, it’s here, and the fates are unwavering in their predictions—the White Wolf heralds the start of a new era for my people … or the violent thrash of their downfall.
My men and I, we’ll defend ourselves with love and magic … or die trying.

***PACK OBSIDIAN GOLD is a 400+ page full-length reverse harem/menage, urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel for mature teens and adults 18+ with a happily ever after waiting at the end of the series. It features one strong woman and her seven hot men that will do whatever it takes to protect and support their alpha. This book contains: werewolves, magic, vampires, dark fae, witches, demons, intrigue, steamy sex scenes, romance, paranormal politics, and true love. This is book three of seven.

This was my first read of 2018, I settled down on New Year’s Day and didn’t stop reading until I hit the last page. Stunich has continued this story in stellar form with Zara Wolf and her seven alpha mates continuing their search for the traitor in the pack and the answers to why the pack magic has disappeared and why Zara is able to access it.

The paranormal elements of this story are fantastic, as a fantasy fan I’m eating them up and just can’t get enough, so much is happening and there are enough characters coming and going from different factions of the supernatural community to keep you guessing as to who has motive, they all have means, and just what the hell is going to happen next. There are gruesome goings-on, violence, which honestly I love the heck out of, and then there is just plain weird shit!

As for the romance elements well knock me down with a harem because Stunich continues to be the best at this steamy windows stuff. The tension is palpable between Zara and most the guys, the heat notched up to boiling. There are moments where it’s hard to take a breath…and I’m talking about me, heaven knows how Zara manages it surrounded by this lot! The sex scenes are fraught with animal attraction and are just downright scorching.

I guess you could read this as a standalone, but I recommend reading this series in order, it will make a whole lot more sense that way.

It's not easy speaking out about my experiences, some of them are extremely painful, but if I can help even one person then I have succeeded in sharing my story. 1. It was for you Drew! I personally, contacted the cover designer, had a conversation about the impact it would have on my blog if you could stomach the cover, and voila we got a guy with his shirt on! It’s all about customer satisfaction here at Brizzle Shizzle!

  1. Quite honestly when it comes to harem stories I haven’t ventured to adult-land yet 😀 I’ve done the YA and it was good.. would have been better of it wasn’t so darn drawn out.. however… I do have my steamy moods (as one does! 😀 ) every once in a while and I think I simply have to challenge myself to do the adult harem read! Great review! 🙂

    1. Haha! Some of the adult harem stories are very drawn out, it’s like torture! But there are plenty which just throw you straight in the deep end! They are definitely my favourite! Stunich definitely tends to lean that way 😉
