A Stranger in the Cove - Rachel Brimble

A Stranger in the Cove is the final book in the Templeton Cove series by Rachel Brimble, I have been so honoured to have been able to read most of these books in advance of their release and have to thank Rachel from the bottom of my heart for letting me have copies of them. I can’t wait to see what she has coming next, and if you’ve not started this series yet I highly recommend it!

Description

Mac Orman is on a mission. When he discovers his recently deceased father had been searching for his birth mother, Mac aims to finish the job by finding the grandmother he never knew. His quest leads him to Templeton Cove—and a firecracker of a woman who instantly jump-starts his tortured heart.

For Mac, Kate Harrington is the most tempting kind of distraction. But their sizzling connection comes with a side of suspicion for Kate, who doesn’t trust this brooding stranger in her town. Mac arrived with no plans to stay, but as he falls for Kate, he wonders how he could ever possibly leave.

Review

A Stranger in the Cove is the eighth and final standalone novel in the Templeton Cove series by Rachel Brimble and boy did she finish with the best of the bunch. I will admit putting a musician in as the lead male probably swayed me just a bit but still, this story is outstanding and had me completely unable to put the book down.

Mac has come into Templeton Cove with one thing on his mind, he wants to find his biological Grandmother and tell her what being adopted did to his Father. He has no intention to sugarcoat his message and doesn’t care what emotional damage his appearance may cause.

Kate, our resident charitable whirlwind who we’ve met a few times in this series, knows instantly that something is up with Mac and she wants to get to the bottom of his appearance in town before anybody gets hurt, especially if it’s somebody she cares about. The problem is she likes him, despite his shifty demeanour and the fact he annoys all kinds of hell out of her.

Rachel Brimble has woven a situation that makes it almost impossible for love to flourish, with two people pulling in different directions while their emotions are pulling them towards each other. It was hard to read at times willing them to find a way and even as a reader you couldn’t figure out what would be the best solution.

Mac and Kate were the perfect story to end the Templeton Cove saga on and while getting to the end of this book was bittersweet I know whatever is coming next from Rachel Brimble will be wonderful.

A huge thank you to Rachel Brimble and Harlequin/Mills & Boon for the eARC so that I could read and honestly review this book.
