The Authors Bookshelf – Errin Krystal @ErrinKrystal

Welcome to The Bookshelf. Each week I feature an author or book blogger and talk about their bookshelf with them. It’s a light-hearted, book focused, Q&A.

This week I have the very lovely Errin Krystal. Errin is a fantasy writer, and if you missed my review of her awesome novel The Last Dragon Rider, you can catch it here.

This is an awesome bookshelf and my TBR which was toppling when I started putting this post together is now in a hopeless case! Enjoy!

What was the first book you remember having on your bookshelf?
I had so many books growing up. I actually still have a lot of them, the ones that survived that it. The first book I ever bought myself though was the Animorphs series when I was about 11 or 12. Back then my bookshelf consisted of a single shelf on my desk. But, yes, they were the first ones I remember having on my own shelves.

What was the most recent book you added to the bookshelf?
I have just been to OzComicCon this weekend (July 1-2) and came home with TEN new books! All from local Melbourne born/based Authors. Autographed copies of C.S Pacat’s Captive Prince Trilogy (one of my favourite series), The Vengeance Trilogy by Devin Madson, Time Weaver By Jacinta Maree, and The Territory Series By Justin Woolley.

Which book have you most recently read from your bookshelf?
Most recently I have finished reading A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Absolutely loved it. Felt like forever waiting for it to come out. Oh, and the latest Riverdale comic, 😉

Which 5 books from last year would you not let go of from your bookshelf?
A Court Of Mist And Fury, Lady Midnight, Kings Rising, Soul Finder and Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy.

Which books are you most looking forward to adding to your bookshelf?
Definitely The Queen of Air and Darkness By Cassandra Clare. It is book three in the Dark Artifices series. Unfortunately I have a long wait ahead of me. It’s not due out until 2019.

What was the most recent addition to your writers bookshelf?
The Tough Guide To Fantasyland By Diana Wynne Jones. While it is definitely not a new book, (published in 1996) I have just recently got a copy. It’s definitely a fun book.

Which of your own books are you most proud of adding to the bookshelf?
Well, I would have to say The Last Dragon Rider, as it is my first. So, very excited about that one!

Which book on your bookshelf do you most wish you had written?
Pretty much anything by Cassandra Clare. I just think her writing is so beautiful. I would love to be able to write like that.

Is there a WIP we can look forward to adding to our bookshelves?
Phoenix Rising! It will be book two in my fantasy series. I’m working on it at the moment.

Can you share a picture of your bookshelf / favourite bookshelf?

I have Bipolar and have been dealing with mental illness in one form or another since childhood, I was first diagnosed with depression at nine. It's not easy speaking out about my experiences, some of them are extremely painful, but if I can help even one person then I have succeeded in sharing my story. My personal blog is where I talk about my mental health among other things that interest me.
