Hey Guys, welcome to my stop on the tour for Mr Prescott by Carlos Dash. Thanks to Xpresso Book Tours for having me take part! Don’t forget the giveaway at the end of the post aswell.
I’m the Mayor of London.
I’ve come to New York purely on business. The usual boring meetings with other politicians.
I don’t expect my time here to be exciting in the slightest.
But who’s that woman I met this morning? No, girl. That would be a more accurate term for her.
She’s only twenty-one years old. A college student. Someone who shouldn’t get mixed up with a guy like me.
But I can’t get her out of my mind. Every single time I close my eyes, I see her face.
How can someone I just met do this to me? That’s the kind of stuff that happens in movies. Not real life.
I know this will be a dangerous risk for me, but I can’t help it. I want her. I need her.
And whatever it may do to my career, I won’t stop until I have her.
Mr. Prescott is a standalone New Adult Romance novel told entirely from the point of view of the male lead.
We all know by now I love a bad boy, and I love it when these books do things a bit different. Mr Prescott is told from the male point of view so I was chomping at the bit to read this. A romance entirely from the male point of view, be still my beating heart!
Nathan Prescott is the new London Mayor, he’s 38 and a gorgeous piece of ass, plus he knows it. He’s visiting New York, where he comes across 21 year old Nicole, a student working in a book store. Instantly enamoured he invites her to dinner and of course one thing leads to another.
Now this story starts really well, there’s great sexual tension, Nicole is slightly timid and overwhelmed being with someone so much older and reasonably famous aswell. She doesn’t want to be made a fool of and that comes across well. The build up is strong and Nathan is a strong character who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to pursue it. That being said he is hesitant with Nicole because of her age, and the fact that he is fairly certain he feels more for her than just a one night stand.
The end of this book is also strong and it ends well with a good solid foundation for how the dilemma’s created in the story can be ended. Nicole and Nathan are both really likeable characters in the end as they both find their strength in this relationship. I loved it being narrated from Nathan’s point of view throughout and felt really connected to him.
Through the middle I felt a little lost at sea though, I felt there wasn’t enough to keep the story afloat, it needed a bit more depth and some more conflict and passion to drive the overall story forward. The book is really short overall and I just felt some more in the middle would have made this a complete winner, I felt like I was missing something and when the book ended I felt like it was far too soon. Some of the Brit facts in there, such as the legal drinking age, are wrong aswell so the research needs to be a bit more thorough aswell.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, it had a fantastic premise, but it’s a bit short with a weak middle section. This is definitely an author I will keep an eye on though.
Sending a huge thanks to Carlos Dash and Xpresso Book Tours for the eARC so that I could honestly review this book.
