TAG: Music Genre Book Tag

This one looked so much fun so I was really pleased to be tagged by my good friend Jay at This Is My Truth Now, what can I say about Jay that I haven’t already told you? Wow, he lives in one of my favourite cities in the world, New York, he’s writing a book, and his posts nearly always leave me laughing, smiling and full of ideas. I know if we were in a room together you wouldn’t shut us up for hours! Go make a new friend and visit him!

Celtic Punk: Favourite Obscure Book/A Book with a Non-Western Setting

Well technically lots of mine don’t have a western setting because of being in other worlds….but I’ll pick something set in our world that has really stuck with me ever since I read it about 15 years ago.

Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden

Memoirs of a Geisha isn’t the kind of book I would normally read, it doesn’t fall into my usual genres but I was given a copy by a colleague and started reading it on a lunch break having finished my normal book (can you believe I still remember that?!) I was hooked and the story of this woman had such a profound effect on me, I keep meaning to re-read it but I haven’t yet.

Classical: Favourite Classic/ Book that Should Become a Classic

So this is where everyone expects me to put Wuthering Heights because I mention it so often, but it’s not actually my favourite Classic…that honour falls to…

The Monk - A RomanceThe Monk by M.G. Lewis, it’s gothic romance horror at it’s best. It is shocking and terrifying and actually quite romantic in it’s own sick and twisted way! I love this book in so many ways. It’s free to download on Kindle so if you’ve never had the pleasure…

Soul/RnB: A Powerful Book

Blackwing - Ed McDonaldIt’s not often I’m left completely speechless after finishing a book, this one did it, I really struggled to write the review because it blew my mind completely but I just didn’t know how to put my thoughts into words.

Cover Songs (Original) : Favourite Retelling

Cry Wolf - Greta StoneI read this recently, it’s a Peter and the Wolf retelling (one of my favourites as a child) and it not only used some rarely touched on lore for the paranormal elements which was a refreshing change it is also a MM romance which was wonderful for a paranormal romance, we don’t see many of these. I was totally sold on this.

Soundtrack: Favourite Book to Movie Adaptation/ Adapted Book

The recent American Gods TV adaptation was outstanding! I loved the book and am planning a re-read because I was so bowled over with the show I want to consume the book again! I love Neil Gaiman’s work and seeing it produced visually like that and so well was just…wow!

Rock and Roll: An Action Packed Book

Godblind - Anna StephensThe action doesn’t stop with this one, it’s brutal and bloodshed from beginning to end!

Pop: A Book with a Pretty Cover that You Lost Interest In

The Dragon's Legacy - Deborah A. WolfI’m still kicking myself that I couldn’t get through this book!

Reggae: Favourite Seasonal Book

Loved this book, despite my dislike of Christmas!

Country: A Historical Fiction Book That Wasn’t For You/ You Loved

I’m not a fan of historical fiction so I rarely attempt it!

Girl With A Pearl Earring - Tracy Chevalier

I really wanted to read this one, but I just couldn’t it was so damn boring! Sorry for those who are fans I know there are many but it just wasn’t for me!

    1. Yay! I really loved Cry Wolf esp because of its LGBTQ slant. There really aren’t enough, at least they aren’t finding me anyway! 😂 And you are welcome can’t wait to see your answers!

I have yet to read Memoirs of a Geisha and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the book!
as for historical fiction, there’s a good one that has 2 books out… The Leopards of Normandy.. has historical fact but nicely weaved with fiction and makes for really good reading 😉
