Huge thanks to Jay at This is My Truth Now for this tag, this is another one that it’s taken me forever to get to…I’m really trying to get better at doing these a bit quicker! I’ve said it before, I will definitely say it again, Jay is an awesome blogger and one of my absolute favourite visits every day. You absolutely have to add him to your rotation if you haven’t already.

- (Note: Try not to spoil the story for your readers in case they would like to check out these romances on their own)
Wow this was hard…like really hard, you can always think of these types of scenarios and characters until you have to. I sat down to think of the five couples I wanted to use for this and nada, like nobody at all came to me. Typical! I got there in the end though!
Beth Thomson and Armando Torres from Kierney Scott’s The Firing Line Series.
I LOVE the way Kierney Scott writes, she writes the baddest of bad boys and the women could kick ten sorts of S*** out of you. Beth and Torres were all sorts of wrong for each other but they were also so right for each other but over and over again things just kept going wrong and my heart was left in tatters. I went through boxes of tissues through the course of reading these three books and just thinking about them sets me off again.
Jesse and Céline in Before Sunrise
God, I hope you’ve all seen this movie, An American lands in Paris, meets a local girl and they spend a night wandering the streets talking, bonding and falling in love before he leaves the next morning. It’s heartbreaking to the max. I’ve watched it so many times and hope for a different outcome every time (I know definition of insanity). It’s heartbreaking, completely heartbreaking. Plus Ethan Hawke is in it what other reason do you need to ogle a movie for two hours?!
Dean and Cynthia in Blue Valentine
Wow this film is hard to watch, a married couple in a downward spiral, this is a frank and brutal look at marriage in it’s worst time. It’s devastating and sad and harsh and requires a lot of tissues to watch. I think it’s probably one of the best films I’ve ever watched about marriage and the acting and directing were outstanding.
Rhett and Scarlett in Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Yes I’ve gone with the book here although you could opt for the film aswell, both apply for this couple! These two have such a tumultuous time not helped by the fact that Scarlett is to put it simply a pain in the backside. How Rhett put up with her I have absolutely no idea. That being said, although I found the film easier to digest the book was where my heartstrings were pulled the most with this story.
Heathcliff and Cathy from Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
So I’m back with one of my favourite and extremely tortured couples. Heathcliff and Cathy, have one of the most heartbreaking love stories of all time. Having loved each other from childhood, Cathy decides to marry for privilege and money leaving Heathcliff in the dust and sending him off a cliff mentally. It just breaks my heart that these two people so destined to be together couldn’t figure it out, love should be so simple yet they made such an utter hash of the whole thing.
