The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters - Jaimie Admans

#BlogTour: The Château of Happily Ever Afters by Jaimie Admans @be_the_spark @HQDigitalUK @NeverlandBT #Review #Giveaway

Welcome to day two of The Château of Happily Ever Afters blog tour from Neverland Blog Tours. Today I have my review for you which I hope you will enjoy! This is a three week blog tour so there is loads of content to come and this is a wonderful book so I encourage you to dig in and enjoy everything which is going to be served up. The tour schedule is further down the post so you know where to head. 😉

Where dreams come true…?

Wendy Clayton stopped believing in fairy tales a long time ago. Instead, she has a ‘nice’ life. Nice job. Nice flat. Absolutely no men. Until her life is turned upside-down when her elderly neighbour, Eulalie, passes away and leaves her the Château of Happily Ever Afters!

But there’s a catch: she must share the sprawling French castle with Eulalie’s long-lost nephew, Julian. And no matter how gorgeous he is, or how easily she finds herself falling head over heels, Wendy needs to find a way to get rid of him…

Because surely happily ever afters don’t happen in real life?

Escape to beautiful France this summer with this uplifting romantic comedy. Perfect for fans of Kat French, Caroline Roberts, and Holly Martin.

The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters - Tour Banner

I signed up for this tour before the cover reveal for this book. I read the blurb and was instantly enamoured with what this book had to offer. Despite my hard exterior, my love of blood and gore in my fantasy books I still love a damn good romance and I just had the feeling this book was going to serve up something good.

Jaimie Admans introduces us to Wendy who has lost her dear friend and neighbour Eulalie (serious love for this name btw!), she has inherited a Château which is news to Wendy as she thought Eulalie was penniless. The only catch is that by French law any surviving blood relatives also inherit means she shares the Château with Julian. A distant great-nephew that Eulalie knew nothing about due to a family rift.

Julian is a male model, perfectly perfect, Scottish. Wendy wants to despise everything about him and decides she won’t give him a chance instantly.

Now whilst this storyline is a tad predictable as always with these types of books the enjoyability is in the execution and boy does Jaimie Admans pull off the most perfect execution.

I’ll be honest I loved Julian instantly, I never for a second fell for Wendy’s insistence he was arrogant or selfish. There was always far more to him than she was allowing herself to see. But the pacing was perfection, rather than ten pages of hate and suddenly love it was was slow and gentle and careful, I actually thought these two people were going to miss the boat that love would never happen for them they were doomed. So much more like real life than books often are where everything falls into place then something unrealistic happens to put a barrier in the way. This felt real and heartbreaking.

I also commend Jaimie for tackling male insecurity over image and food consumption, because of Julian being a model this fit into the story perfectly and was so well handled and written and I just wanted to give him huge hugs and tell him it was all OK and how lovely he was.

I adored this book so much, it was a stunning read and with all the baking that goes on it’s going to make you really hungry aswell so be warned! Even as someone who doesn’t eat baked goods or cake I was starving!

Sending a huge thanks to Jaimie Admans, HQ Digital and Neverland Blog Tours for the eARC so that I could read and honestly review this novel.

About Jaimie Admans

Jaimie Admans - Author ImageJaimie is a 32-year-old English-sounding Welsh girl with an awkward-to-spell name. She lives in South Wales and enjoys writing, gardening, watching horror movies, and drinking tea, although she’s seriously considering marrying her coffee machine. She loves autumn and winter, and singing songs from musicals despite the fact she’s got the voice of a dying hyena. She hates spiders, hot weather, and cheese & onion crisps. She spends far too much time on Twitter and owns too many pairs of boots.

She will never have time to read all the books she wants to read.

She is the author of chick-lit romantic comedies The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters and Kismetology, and she has also written young-adult romantic comedies Afterlife Academy, Not Pretty Enough, and North Pole Reform School.

I'm BrizzleLass, I am a bookworm and my book blog BrizzleLass Books is where I share my love of books by writing reviews, sharing guest posts from authors, interviews and even the odd bookish giveaway! I have Bipolar and have been dealing with mental illness in one form or another since childhood, I was first diagnosed with depression at nine. It's not easy speaking out about my experiences, some of them are extremely painful, but if I can help even one person then I have succeeded in sharing my story. My personal blog is where I talk about my mental health among other things that interest me.
