Today I welcome the My Beautiful Disaster tour to BrizzleLass Books. Written by J.D. Hughes, this romantic romp will leave you with some colour on your cheeks and desperate for some more. Today I have an author interview with our author about publication day and my review and at the end of the post is a tour-wide giveaway which I encourage you to take part in.

Daniel Dukes, millionaire extraordinaire has it all. A thriving business, good looks, power, money and women who’ll drop their drawers at the click of his skilled fingers. Just how he likes it. Everything changes one day when a stipulation in his deceased Uncle’s will, scuppers his visionary plans. The only way to get what’s rightfully his, is to marry. Who? It doesn’t matter, because the enigmatic bachelor will stop at nothing and play dirty to get what is his.

Sophia Lewis had nothing until she started working directly for Daniel at Dukes Industries. Having grown up in care, she’s tough, has an answer for everything and knows how to handle all varieties of men. For two years, Sophia has attended to her overbearing boss’ every whim. Gone above and beyond the call of duty.

When an indecent proposal presents itself, boundaries are pushed and limits are tested. Can Daniel and Sophia remain professional to fool the dead Uncle’s Lawyers? As lines become blurred and tempers become frayed, can two strong willed souls be the key to unlock each other’s hidden secrets? Or will the high price of the deal come at a devastating cost to them both?

*Warning* Mature themes and one hell of a cliff hanger!

Author Interview

So, your book is being published!

Woo hoo!!

How do you spend publication day eve and the actual day?

What do you do the night before?

I sit biting my nails waiting for my book to appear on Amazon. Pink Champagne is always close by as well as my whole family. It’s a big deal. I am more nervous of my book going live than when I walked down the aisle.

The morning?

Promote, promote and promote. And constantly check KDP like some neurotic mad woman.

Who are you with?

My husband and kids. The kids really don’t care though. (Sigh!)

Where do you go?

Mostly home but we celebrate later by going out for a meal and making a toast with all my loved ones and supporters.

What do you spend the day doing? After promotion?

Rock back and forth hoping people like it. Ha!

Is publication day 1 the same as publication day 2? And so on?

At first, I’m obsessive, continually checking KDP but then begin to relax. I love reading the reviews too. Even if there are negative ones, I don’t beat myself up about it. I learn from it if it’s genuine constructive criticism.

Do you have any rituals?

No rituals but I always feel sad when I’ve completed a novel. But majorly excited to see it through someone else’s eyes.

Sophia, saved as a care runaway as a child by a biker gang hasn’t had a lot in her life but through true grit and determination she’s bagged herself a job at Duke Industries as Daniel Dukes PA. Following the death of his Uncle Daniel, a renowned playboy, has to get married within three weeks, or lose his inheritance, and along with it his lifes’ work.

Of course the logical conclusion is to chose his PA, someone he has no feelings for, and who has no feelings for him in return.

Now, those of us in book-land know that this is a recipe for disaster, or heated hot rumpy-bumpy! Now despite this being a book full of all the joys of sex it also has an excellent storyline which kept me riveted.

I sometimes find the playboy trope a little tired in these books but it’s done really well in this novel and Daniel comes across really well with his reasons for his playboy antics being understandable and well explained.

Sophia is a feisty and strong woman who despite liking Daniel’s alpha male ways isn’t afraid to stand up to him. Her tough early life has shaped her into a secure and strong woman and she doesn’t need his acceptance but wants it.

The end of this book though, Oh My, I don’t do well with cliffhangers, I like nice neat tied with a bow endings and this one was especially painful! So much so that I immediately went and downloaded the second book, which I hope to have time to read very very soon because I really don’t like how in the dark I am right now!

Suffice to say this was a truly excellent book, an easy read and characters that I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with.

Sending a huge thanks to J.D. Hughes and EDM Editorial & Publicity Services for the eARC so that I could read and honestly review this novel.
