Review: A Cotswold Christmas by Kate Hewitt @katehewitt1 @TulePublishing
Welcome to Wychwood-on-Lea… a not-too-quaint village where frosty evenings, welcoming fires, and second chances will make this a Christmas you’ll never forget.
Anna Vere has escaped to the Cotswolds for Christmas to try to heal from her broken engagement and, far worse, her broken dreams. When her reserved room at a bed & breakfast is flooded, she takes up the offer of camping out in Willoughby Close, the converted stables of the nearby manor house… and is taken under the wing of sexy local carpenter Colin Heath.
What starts out as merely helping a neighbor in need turns into far more as Colin and Anna share a surprisingly intense and emotional connection, weaving their own Christmas magic as they spend the holiday together. But Anna has a secret she’s scared to reveal, something that could destroy the fragile bond they’ve just created, and Colin knows she’s only in England for a short time. Can these two sudden soul mates risk their hearts for a love that has yet to be tried and tested?
Get swept away by this poignant and heartwarming story, set in beautiful Wychwood-on-Lea, in the English Cotswolds. And look forward to four more books set in Willoughby Close, where everyday miracles and happily-ever-afters are guaranteed.
When Anna arrives in Wychwood-on-Lea from New York she is expecting an idyllic English Countryside Christmas getaway where she can heal her broken heart and avoid her overbearing family. What she doesn’t expect is to find herself stranded when her bed and breakfast is flooded and everywhere else is fully booked. Colin, her landlady’s cousin comes to the rescue offering her a place to stay and a friendship which sparks life into her ailing heart.
I was swept away with this story between Anna and Colin. These were a fragile pair of characters who both had reasons to avoid connecting with another person, especially someone from another country and yet they both found themselves falling hard and quick. I’ve seen this happen in real life and I know it can happen and it’s beautiful. I loved reading their story and seeing them get to know each other, to understand each other, and to learn how to overcome their hurdles together.
I felt completely engaged with this couple and I was willing them to make it and for Anna to not go home to New York.
This would be the perfect novella to curl up with after your Christmas feast, with a warm blanket and hot chocolate. You can easily read it one sitting.
A huge thanks to Kate Hewitt and Tule Publishing for the eARC of this book in return for my honest review.
