Review: Christmas Under A Cranberry Sky by Holly Martin @hollymartin00 @bookouture
Piper Chesterfield lives a glamorous life travelling the world and reviewing the finest hotels. She calls nowhere home, she works alone and that’s how she likes it. For long ago Piper decided that to protect her heart she should lock it away.
So when Piper’s next assignment brings her to the newly opened Stardust Lake Hotel for the festive season, the last person she expects to face is Gabe Whitaker, the man who broke her heart so completely she could never love again.
But Piper isn’t the only one who has been frozen in time by heartbreak. Gabe hasn’t forgotten the golden-eyed girl who disappeared from his world without a trace.
Now fate has reunited them on Juniper island, can the magic of Christmas heal old wounds? And can this enchanting town be the one place Piper can finally call home?
Piper and Gabe fell in love when they were teenagers but unfortunate and heartbreaking circumstances tore them apart. Now years later circumstance has thrown them together again on Juniper Island where Gabe has opened a magical Christmas retreat and Piper has gone as a secret shopper to write a review.
Holly Martin has used her magic with words to create a beautiful book full of wonder and hope. I’m not a huge fan of Christmas but even I got swept into the feel of warmth and joy that this book envelopes you in and felt like Juniper Island would be an amazing place to visit.
Piper was a lovely character who had been through some awful life experiences and yet still held her head high and was willing to keep fighting. Gabe was a wonderful person who fought hard for the people he loved, as a father to his daughter Wren (who for me totally stole the show – and I rarely say this about children!) was wonderful and really stood out as a strong character who knew he had maybe made mistakes in the past but owned them.
This book had a wonderful cast of characters and it perfectly set things up for the second book in this series which is also out now, Christmas Under a Starlit Sky, I also felt with all the characters we meet and fall in love with there could easily be several books in this series and I would happily spend lots of time on this island with these lovely people.
A huge thanks to Holly Martin and Bookouture for the eARC of this book in return for my honest review.
