American born Prima Ballerina Georgina Fairly made a mistake that could destroy her. Saving her career means selling her soul to the Russian government. Now a spy who uses her body to lure men and secure their secrets, Georgina is tasked with seducing Roman Zakharov, the most dangerous Oligarch in Russia.
Roman Zakharov a man with a past as ugly as his disfigured face. An assassination attempt left him horribly burned, but the scars go deeper than the frightening exterior. Jaded and cruel, Roman lets Georgina into his world but only to punish her and teach the pretty dancer that no one crosses Roman Zakharov. He will show her what it means to be used. And he will teach her to beg.
I’m so pleased to be reviewing another Kierney Scott novel. Her work is so easy to write about as she offers so much to comment on in a really positive way as she never disappoints.
Kierney is by far my favourite author in the erotic romance genre. This is probably because she writes my favourite heroines, actually I feel that heroines are the wrong word, kick ass bitches feels more appropriate!
Unlike many authors who write in this genre, Kierney always writes women who are strong willed, can look after themselves, are sexual, and don’t actually need a man. This is really attractive to me as another woman and a reader. Yes I enjoy reading books in this genre but I don’t need the women to be needy and weak. I like strong women, who know their own minds, the kind of women I would be friends with and Kierney Scott’s characters are those women.
Georgina our “heroine” in Last Dance doesn’t disappoint in this area, she’s a prima ballerina who after an epic mistake in the past is now working as a spy on the side. She’s tough, and will do whatever it takes to maintain her career as a dancer. Anyone who’s ever known dancers will also know they are tough cookies by nature anyway!
On her latest mission she is sent to seduce Roman, again in typical Kierney Scott style he’s not the stereotypical hero, he’s badly scarred, not attractive to look at, and Kierney has taken the role of bad boy to the most extreme level possible as all we are told about him is he’s a murderer and one of the most dangerous men in Russia.
Of course, things don’t go according to plan and things get interesting between the pair. Kierney Scott leads us down a winding road never quite knowing if Roman is going to be a good guy in the end. She puts her characters through hell ensuring they are well and truly tortured whilst making sure the erotic aspects of the novel are neatly woven through in such a way that they don’t feel out of place within the story.
Yet again Kierney Scott has perfectly balanced a complex story with an erotic romance, it’s all so perfectly blended and leaves the reader exhausted by the end. These are wonderful characters who aren’t always nice and don’t always make good decisions but that’s some of my favourite things about them as it evokes emotion as I’m reading.
A huge thanks to Kierney Scott for the ARC so that I could read and honestly review this book.
