The Flame Never Dies - Rachel Vincent

Blog Tour: Review: The Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent

Welcome to my stop on the The Flame Never Dies Blog Tour, written by Rachel James and published by HQ Young Adult. I’m very pleased to be taking part on the and hope you enjoy my review.

Nina Kane was born to be an exorcist. And since uncovering the horrifying truth―that the war against demons is far from over―seventeen-year-old Nina and her pregnant sister, Mellie, have been on the run, incinerating the remains of the demon horde as they go.

In the badlands, Nina, Mellie, and Finn, the fugitive and rogue exorcist who saved her life, find allies in a group of freedom fighters. They also face a new threat: Pandemonia, a city full of demons. But this fresh new hell is the least of Nina’s worries. The well of souls ran dry more than a century ago, drained by the demons secretly living among humans, and without a donor soul, Mellie’s child will die within hours of its birth.

Nina isn’t about to let that happen . . . even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

The Flame Never Dies - Tour Banner

In a world where demons have control and humans are dying out Nina Cain and her small band of exorcist friends known as Anathema are fighting for survival.

This novel takes place several months after the events of ‘The Stars Never Rise’. I didn’t read this novel but caught up on the events quickly and had a good understanding of the world we are in within a couple of chapters.

Rachel Vincent has created a dystopian paranormal world where demons are king. Anyone who has read Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series will know what to expect from her writing and she doesn’t’ disappoint. The storyline here is hard hitting, with characters you grow close to put in mortal peril, while they fight for their humanity, and that of their friends and family.

Nina Cain is a strong, fearless woman, even at seventeen she is selfless and willing to sacrifice herself for others. As an exorcist she is one of the few people truly capable of banishing demons back to hell and she takes the responsibility seriously whilst caring for her pregnant sister.

This is an action packed novel and involves some original ideas around exorcism, demon possession and the apocalypse. Rachel Vincent has created a scary world that it wouldn’t be nice to live in and a fantastic band of characters who are inspiring and strong.

Thank you very much to Rachel Vincent and HQ Young Adult for a copy of the novel via NetGalley to review this book honestly for the blog tour.
