Review:
The Chic Boutique on Baker Street was a beautiful and heart-warming read.

Amanda is a commercial city lawyer, following in her parents footsteps as they expected her to she works hard, very hard, but she dreams of a life where she can indulge her crafting obsession. She has a secret drawer in her desk where she hides her crafting magazines and when the stress gets overwhelming she takes five to read her magazines and pin ideas to her pinterest boards.

After an awful mistake sees her unemployed she takes a leap and leaves London to escape the rat race and see if her dreams of a slower life can be fulfilled in a Yorkshire village. It’s here she meets the local vet Ben and when they meet the local matriarch Agatha see’s a future the young couple don’t and she sets about to make them her business.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the parts of the story around Agatha and her brood! They were so much fun and I laughed out loud at their plotting, planning, and sneaking around. Texting group messages to each other, tricking the couple into situations where they had to spend time together. They were so much fun and so loving and just the sort of people anybody would want as friends and looking out for them.

Amanda was a lovely person and her character developed through the book into someone who really belonged in this village away from the rat race and the cut-throat world of law. She was so well suited to her new home and perfectly happy with her new friends.

Ben was quite judgemental and I found him quite hard to like at first. He wasn’t a character I initially connected with but I felt as we learn more about him his reactions start to make more sense and I felt myself warming to him.

This is a great debut novel, with some of the most homely characters I’ve read in some time.

A huge thanks to Rachel Dove and Mills & Boon for the ARC to provide an honest review of this novel.
