I am so excited at sharing this challenge with everyone. A group of us, “six bloggers and an author”, have teamed up to raise money for Readathon Hospitals.
It’s not really a secret that I’m a huge bookworm and that books bring me a lot of comfort. This is something that started as a child for me. My Mum would read to me before I was old enough to read, and while the world was falling apart around us, and it was, I was immensely happy. I remember vividly her reading my favourite book to me before bed every night and even now over 30 years later we both still know the words to that book!
I wanted to take part in this fundraising event because helping children get books is a no-brainer to me. Once we had all discussed it the charity was a clear winner, Readathon Hospitals raise money to donate free books and organise storytelling sessions for seriously ill children in hospital.
For any of us who have spent even a short time in hospital, even as an adult, we can appreciate the difference a book makes!
As most of us taking part are bloggers and active on social media. We wanted an event which would run easily online, but still be fun to take part in and relevant to the charity.
On Sunday 4 October we will taking part in a 24 hour Readathon. All of us will not only be reading the same book during this period but also reviewing it on our blogs!
To add fuel to the fire we are not picking the book YOU are! There is a poll up on the eventFacebook page where anybody interested can vote on the book we will be reading!
On the following Wednesday we will be hosting an all-day Facebook party with giveaways for those who are taking part and supporting Readathon Hospitals.
I Want In:
If you fancy joining the madness and taking part in the event then get in touch with Jenny from Jenny in Neverland on Twitter at @jennymarston_xo. Keep in mind you will need to buy the book for the readathon, there is no arrangement in place for the books to be donated.
Also, just a quick thanks to Jenny for coming up with this awesome idea and for her amazing work pulling it all together!
Now the point of this is to raise money for this awesome charity so please do donate, even a small amount like £1 makes a difference!
In advance, Thank You, for your support.
